In July the FBI stated that they would not press charges against Hillary Clinton for her using a private server to send potentially classified emails. She was harshly criticized but not indicted.
Anthony Weiner is a politician who likes to send sexually explicit messages. In 2015 he was caught for a third time sending explicit pictures to a woman who was not his wife. This time was different. His wife left him after it showed he was sexting other women with his toddler on his lap. He also was allegedly sexting a 15-year-old girl, according to a September 2016 article in the Daily Mail. Devices owned by Weiner and his wife were seized for this investigation.
This is important because Anthony Weiner’s wife is (at the time this article is written) Huma Abdin. Abdin is Hillary Clinton’s Vice Chair for her presidential campaign. The FBI found emails on one of Weiner’s laptops that may be pertinent to the Clinton email scandal. James Comey sent a letter to Congress telling them about this on October 23, 2016. This was 16 days before the election. Comey gave no information about the types of emails found. The letter said that it would take a while for them to be sorted.
With this new scandal and Trump’s previous TV campaign, he’s closing the gap. The race is tighter than ever, within the margin of error in most swing states especially. Hillary is now doubling her effort with a larger push for votes in “safe” Democratic states and a series of damaging videos targeted at undecideds and those in their 20s and 30s.
At the beginning of October this race seemed in the bag for Hillary, but with this October surprise, the race is up in the air again. Hillary still has a slight lead in most polls but only by 1-2 percentage points.
